Theo Perkins

Theo Perkins is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Elizabeth Youth Theater Ensemble (EYTE), a not for profit arts organization whose mission is centered upon strengthening the voices of young artists. Utilizing theater-arts based curricula, EYTE provides creative learning opportunities for youth of the global majority, where they gain confidence, communication skills, and self awareness. EYTE’s major initiative is Walking the Beat: a social justice arts based program for high school youth and police officers in Los Angeles and New Jersey, featured in Oxygen Network’s Unsung Heroes. The program addresses issues related to violence in the community and American culture, particularly focusing on children and gun violence as a leading cause of death in the United States.

As an actor, his television credits include guest star appearances on Fox, TNT, and CBS. On stage, he has performed on Broadway and regionally at NJPAC, Kirk Douglas Theatre, International City Theatre, Boston Court Theater and the Fountain Theatre, where he is the recipient of the 2024 NAACP Theater Award (Best Ensemble, Detained). Theo’s voice can be heard as the lead character in Madden NFL 24. He was recently awarded the 2025 NJ Governor’s Award for Arts Education. Theo is a graduate of Morehouse College, UCLA’s MFA Acting program and the Executive Arts Leadership Program at the University of Southern California. Currently, Theo serves as a member of the Board of Directors at the Fountain Theatre and an Advisor and Arts Coordinator at UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance.
